Grow Your LipSense Business With Instagram
Now, we’ve all heard that LipSense sells itself, right? And quite frankly, this is true. The product is incredible. The other reality, however, is that LipSense can’t sell itself if you don’t share the product with your audience.
And that’s the simple truth.
How do you start showing LipSense to other people, you ask? Great question! One of the best ways to start making these connections and sharing the LipSense magic is on Instagram.
I was reading a blog post about how to get paid on Instagram the other day, and I came across some staggering statistics.
Did you know that there are 800 million active users on Instagram every month? That’s almost three times the population of the United States! What’s more, there are 500 million active users every single day. Every Day!
That’s a lot of eyes, people. And they’re ready to view your content!
But before you hop over to the app and start posting away, check out my top six tips to help you create content that is memorable, relatable, and engaging.
Grow Your LipSense Business With Instagram Using These Six Tips
As I mentioned in an earlier post, when it comes to beauty and makeup photography, proper light is king. Ideally, this means capturing your images in natural lighting.
If I’m working from home in the morning, for example, I like to take my pictures in front of the big sliding glass doors in my family room. They let in clear, bright light without casting harsh shadows on my face. I took the top picture here. 👉
I use a ring light, which gives your face a beautiful glow while maintaining your lip color accurately as well. (If you’re interested, this is the light that I use.)
Remember, you’re trying to demonstrate the beauty of your product. If you’re sharing grainy pictures with poor lighting, you’re making things challenging for yourself.
Set yourself up for success by starting with great light.
Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook
If you’re familiar with Gary Vaynerchuk’s best-selling book, Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World, you may be familiar with this tip.
If you haven’t read the book, first of all, I recommend it! Second of all, the concept behind the title is genius. Essentially, Vaynerchuk talks about the importance of showing up for your audience in several different ways.
In other words, don’t make every post about selling LipSense. Not only does that turn away your potential clients, but you’ll get bored, too!
Instead, try sharing pieces of you, your story, and who you are. What do you love? Where do you struggle? What gets you excited each day?
In other words, create genuine connections with your readers. (And do so while wearing your favorite colors, of course😉)
This tip is related to the previous one; when you share your posts, stay true to you.
“Authentic” is such a buzzword right now, and I hesitate to use it for that very reason. Nevertheless, strive to share what matters to you. Don’t hide behind the product. And try to avoid using single word descriptions for your captions (I’m looking at you, #swoon.)
Long story short, don’t be afraid to tell your story.Do you want to grow genuine followers? Then don't be afraid to tell your story. Be true to you. #socialmediatips #lipsense #connections Click To Tweet
Instagram allows 30 hashtags for each post; use them!
As you choose your hashtags, think about the audience you’re trying to reach. Are you targeting creative entrepreneurs? Stay at home moms? School teachers?
Whoever is your target market, put yourself in their shoes. Ask yourself, what are they searching for on Instagram?
For example, if you’re a mompreneur, and you’re reaching out to all of the other soccer and lacrosse moms out there, then you should probably include #soccermom and #lacrossemom in your collection of hashtags. Yes, you should add your traditional beauty tags, too. But remember, you’re trying to reach your ideal clients. So start speaking their language!
Engagement is a two-way street. Therefore, any time someone comments on your pictures, take time to respond. Continue that conversation.
On the other hand, engagement also means reaching out to others on Instagram. So search your main hashtags and start genuinely commenting on others women’s posts. This part is crucial, ladies! Don’t just wait for your ideal client to find you.
If you make an effort to reach out several times a day, you will start seeing your engagement increase. I promise!
Call to Action
This last tip is KEY, so try not to skip it.
With every post you share, make sure that you include a call to action.
Now, call to actions take on many different forms. It might be as simple as “double tap if you’re also on coffee #2 this morning,” or it might be a bigger ask: “If you want to learn more about this incredible product, be sure to join my facebook group, Effortless Beauty by Paula. I’d love to see you there! (link in bio)”
Using a call to action is a great way to strengthen connections with your clients, while also helping you better understand their interests based on their level of engagement with each post.
