And just like that, we’re halfway through January. WHAT?!
I know, it’s crazy.
So here is my big question for you: how are your resolutions coming along? Are you sticking with those goals?
If so, fantastic!
If not, then you’re in luck. Today I’m thrilled to introduce Julissa from Shari’s Berries. She is here to share with you some easy motivation hacks to help keep you on track and moving closer to your big goals this year.
17 Simple Hacks For Goal Motivation

What is your New Year’s resolution this year?
Are you committed to hitting the gym more often? Do you want to learn a new language? Are you going to clean out the garage once and for all? Whatever your goals are for the next 12 months, it’s always exciting to dream big and imagine how it will feel when you finally reach them.
Unfortunately, following through on New Year’s resolutions is notoriously tough; in fact, most people don’t make it past February!
And let’s be honest, we’ve all been there at one point or another, right? We set an ambitious goal: “I’m going to work out every day this year with no exceptions!” We stay consistent for about a week or so. And by the end of the month, our streak has completely fizzled out.
Can you relate?
If so, you’re not alone! Believe it or not, only 8% of people who make resolutions actually keep them throughout the year. 8%!?
What gives?
Well, the problem lies in how we set and approach our goals.
You see, setting a goal that’s too lofty or overambitious is often a recipe for disaster – especially if you don’t take the steps to map out your plan and maintain motivation along the way.
And that is where my 17 motivation tips come in.
Backed by science, these simple tricks are proven to help you stick to your resolutions this year. Whether you’ve just started out on the journey or you are stuck in a slump along the way, these strategies will help keep you moving forward, even if you simply don’t feel like it.
Check out the infographic below, choose your favorite motivators, and rediscover your groove today!
Then, be sure to download these three weekly habit trackers to help you stick with your good habits and keep you moving toward those big goals in no time!

I hope they help!
Such a great post! I love it from the very beginning! “Start small” is something I really skip sometimes and put down way to many things I need to get done.
Thanks Gena! Yes, starting small can make a bit difference in the long run 🙂
I really should try making a vision board this year!
It’s such a great motivator. Let me know if you give it a try!

These are great tips! It can be so hard to lost motivation but setting SMART goals and having a vision board can definitely help you remember what you’re working towards!
Thanks, Justine!
These are great tips! For me, concentrating on positive outcomes is a game changer. Also, after re-reading The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People I wrote my personal mission statement this year (something I’ve been planning to do for years) and it brought my purpose and goals into sharp focus. It’s something I would encourage everyone to do.
I absolutely LOVE that you took the time to write your mission statement, Lori. That is SO inspiring!
There is something about writing things down that is a game changer for me. It’s like they aren’t real until they are on paper!
Yes! It’s the same for me 🙂
I can’t believe that we are halfway through January! Seriously, where did the month go? My kids’ school re-enrollments are due by the end of the month. I had better get busy!
Time flies, doesn’t it?
Because one of my goals is to work out more often (and I haven’t even worked out once this year), I’m going to start at home by lifting weights.
That sounds like a GREAT place to start. Weights are my favorite 🙂
What a great list of tops for staying on track! This year, instead of making resolutions, I chose a guiding quote to help refocus myself every morning. So far, so good.
I love that approach, Renee. What a wonderful idea!
I always start small. I get so overwhelmed if I don’t. Great tips!
Yes! I agree. Starting small can be SUCH an effective approach.
I’ve been so busy with work that I’ve not actually thought about non-work related goals! I can definitely use these tips to motivate me at work, too!
I’m so glad to hear it, Jorina!
Another great post Paula. Yep it’s true it only takes 21 days for a new routine to become an habit, but these 21 days can be hard and you have to be ready for that…
Yes! Exactly 🙂 Thank you for reading!
I stay on track by practicing forgiveness. When I slip off track, I just forgive myself and get right back on it!
I love this! Forgiveness is absolutely KEY! Thanks for that great reminder 🙂
First of all I think a great goal is to reward myself with some Shari’s Berries. My husband gave me some for a Christmas present and they were delicious! I love your tips and it is true the best way to keep to a goal is write it down and keep track. Accountability is key for me. I do much better when I know I am meeting somebody at the gym or class. Thanks for the great tips, but now I want some Shari’s Berries 🙂
Yay! Another Shari’s Berries fan 😀 It’s amazing how powerful writing down our goals is, isn’t it?
Thanks for the reminder to focus on positive outcomes! Sometimes it’s so hard with resolutions that seem so far away

I’m so glad to hear it, Jackie!
Great tips! I find it helpful for myself to reward at certain milestones and to break down goals into smaller sub-goals.
I love that approach, Kerry!
i maintain motivation when working toward my goals by making sure i’m well rested and I get rid of all unnecessary distractions. Loved the tips, I will be sure to put them into practice!
YES! Getting enough rest is SO key.
It can be so hard to follow through with resolutions and you share great ideas to help! I especially love the idea of a power pose!
Thanks, Lauren!
I like the idea of breaking down a goal into phases. And drinking more water is one of my goals this year! I notice such a difference in my body and mind when I am hydrated.
It makes such a huge difference doesn’t it, Jen?
I want to print this off and hang it on the fridge as a reminder. There are so many steps to accomplishing a goal and getting distracted or just plain unmotivated happens so easily!
Do it! It’s a great reminder 🙂
