How do you increase productivity?
This is a question I get asked several times a week from you incredible readers.
In fact, I heard it six different times last four or five days, which made me realize how many of you are looking for quick and easy productivity hacks.
So a big thank you for sending me that question, my friends. Because it inspired today’s roundup of my 10 favorite hacks to help you increase your productivity and start getting things done NOW.
Let’s do this!
How Do You Increase Productivity?
1. Create a Schedule With Deadlines
The majority of us thrive on deadlines.
Because without at outer accountability, tasks rarely get done. It’s easy to put things off until “later.” But as we all know, later often becomes never.
So set clear deadlines for yourself – both long-term goals and short-term daily tasks – in order to stay on track and maintain your high productivity levels.
2. Do B- Work and Increase Productivity
I got this strategy from my coach, Brooke Castillo. She teaches us that if you want to kick procrastination to the curb, then you need to get comfortable with B- work.
When you sit down to work for the day, create a goal and set a deadline. Then, work as hard as you can until it’s complete.
Once it’s complete, you can always go back and edit, tweak, and adjust as needed. The secret sauce, however, is getting the majority of it done as quickly as possible.
You’ll be amazed at how much more you accomplish each day.
3. Batch Similar Tasks
Batch work is a productivity fanatic’s dream. Why? Because it lets you get into that flow state where you work as efficiently as possible.
You see, batch work simply means that you work on the same task for an extended period of time. For example, I might batch writing all of my blog post content for the month on one Monday. Or I might batch reading and writing emails in one 2-hour time slot rather than popping in and out of my inbox each day.
This strategy saves an enormous of time because you get into your groove and don’t waste valuable moments in transition from one task to the next.
4. Do the Hardest Task First to Increase Productivity
Many of us are at our most productive first thing in the morning. We haven’t maxed out our brainpower yet, so we are able to work more efficiently. Whenever possible, start with your biggest project at the beginning of the day and get the most out of your time.
Of course, if you have your peak productivity hours later on in the day, adjust this tip as necessary. 🙂
5. Ask for Help
This is a big one, people. Asking for help is such a challenge for many of us. We don’t want to be a burden. We don’t want to look weak. And we have trouble releasing control.
But sometimes simply asking for help when we need it is the real secret, because it allows us to focus on the bigger tasks that will move us closer to our goals

6. Use Keyboard Shortcuts
Using keyboard shortcuts is a small scale productivity hack, but since I’m on the computer so much, I find it saves me a significant amount of time overall.
7. Set a Goal for Each Day to Increase Productivity
If you want to increase productivity, then you need to know what you’re working toward. By setting a clear goal at the beginning of each day, and working on it until it’s complete, you will see an enormous shift in your productivity levels.
8. Clear Clutter From Your Desk
As Gretchen Rubin often reminds us, outer order contributes to inner calm. And when we’re calm, we’re much more likely to be productive.
Spend 10 minutes at the end of every workday clearing clutter from your workspace so you can start the next day fresh and focused.
9. Keep Work Emails and Personal Emails Separate
While it’s convenient to consolidate both work and personal emails into one inbox, it also creates some major obstacles; not only is it a distraction when you’re trying to focus at work, it also disrupts the healthy separation from work when you’re at home.
10. Take Breaks Throughout the Day
If you’ve been following I’m Busy Being Awesome for a while now, you know that I’m a big fan of time blocking. It helps reinforce the practice of single-tasking while creating natural pauses in our workday.
These pauses are critical for your brain’s clarity and focus. It provides your mind with the time it needs to recharge so it can come back feeling fresh.
