Can we state the obvious for a minute?
Feeling stuck sucks.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re struggling with a problem at work, you’re facing a roadblock at home, or you’re debating a major life change, feeling stuck can be incredibly discouraging.
It often leaves us lacking motivation. We’re left feeling stressed and anxious. And it can bring up major swells of self-doubt.
In short, it’s tough.
And what’s more, we all get stuck at one time or another.
We all face setbacks. We all fall into slumps. And we all hit roadblocks on our way to greatness.
But here’s the good news.
While it’s never fun to be in those situations, there are some great tools you can use to get unstuck and start moving forward.
And that, my friend, is exactly what I’m here to share with you today.
So, if you’re ready to get unstuck and start moving forward, then keep reading. This post is for you.

How to Get Unstuck and Start Moving Forward
Get Unstuck by Looking Back and Celebrating Accomplishments
Looking back and celebrating accomplishments is a great strategy for when you’re working hard but feel like you’re getting nowhere.
Take some time to look at past planners, bullet journals, or previous lists of goals. As you do, make note of all the steps – both big and small – you took to get where you are today.
By taking this walk down memory lane, you not only remind yourself of when you felt stuck in the past, but you also recognize how you plowed through your prior roadblocks to ultimately find success.
Sometimes 10 minutes of reflection is all you need to get unstuck and reignite your motivation once again.

Get Unstuck with Like-Minded Company
Sometimes when you’re feeling stuck, one of the best ways to get moving is by surrounding yourself with people who can offer support.
Whether they have gone through a related situation, they understand the obstacles you’re navigating, or they’re working toward a similar goal, these friends can provide you with the support, understanding, and motivation you need to get unstuck.
If you’re chasing a big goal, this may require you to step outside of your comfort zone and meet some new people. This is great!
Doing so allows you to explore fresh ideas and gain new perspectives, which is so valuable as you work through your roadblocks.
What’s more, there are so many incredible online Facebook groups and local community meet-ups available that you’ll have no problem making those connections.

Get Unstuck by Making Small Changes
As Patricia Harteneck, Ph.D. explains, “[c]hange stimulates different parts of the brain that improve creativity and clarity of mind.”
In other words, when you start to make small changes in your life, whether that’s shifts in your daily routine, updates to the décor in your home, or new exercises in your standard workout, your body and mind take notice.
This accumulation of small changes adds up, often easing forward movement on the bigger situations as well.
Get Unstuck By Talking it Over
I’m telling you, it’s amazing how powerful it is to talk through a challenge with someone you trust.
Choose someone in your close support group – a friend, a partner, a coach, etc. – and use them as your sounding board.
Even if they haven’t been in your exact situation before, that’s okay! Chances are, they can relate to similar feelings and empathize with you.
You see, you’re not necessarily looking for advice during this sounding board session. Instead, you’re simply looking for someone to listen.
Often times, simply talking through a challenge with a good listener can help you get unstuck and find the solution you need.
