Truth time: I love taking personality quizzes. Whenever they pop up in my Facebook feed, I can’t resist clicking through to learn which Disney character I am. (Nemo) What my name would have been 100+ years ago. (Gretchen, born 1898) And which Saved By the Bell character I am based on my sandwich preference (?!). (Mr. Belding – SO LAME).
Can you relate? Do you like taking online quizzes, too?
I thought so.
You see, there’s something innately appealing about classifying our “personalities,” even when the quizzes are absolutely ridiculous. And believe it or not, there’s even science to back this up.

As Constance Grady explains, “human brains are wired for tribalism. Personality quizzes help satisfy that impulse…We find our group, we stick to it, and the tribe to which we belong fundamentally affects the ways in which we perceive the world.”
Admittedly, the fact that I know what part of the avocado I am (yes, I actually took that quiz) does not fundamentally affect the way I see the world. But the quiz drew me in nevertheless.
Yep, there’s no question about it; online quizzes can almost guarantee engagement. And that, my friends, is why an online quiz can help you grow your email list.

Online quizzes are both super fun and an incredible way to engage with your audience. You help your readers discover more about themselves while also providing them with valuable information – all in exchange for their email address.

Me: No worries, friend. I have you covered.
Given my above-mentioned love of all things quizzes, I’d been meaning to add some to my site for a while now. So when I came across the online quiz platform Interact, I jumped at the opportunity to try it out.
And you know what? The experience was awesome. In fact, I can’t wait to continue creating valuable quizzes for my readers.

2. Provide Your Client with Valuable Content
One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received about building your online business is to serve-serve-serve before ever asking for anything. Well guess what; an online quiz is a fantastic way to do just that.
For example, the first quiz I created was for my business, Effortless Beauty, which is a branch of I’m Busy Being Awesome all about beauty tips for the busy lady. Since many of my clients are seeking ways to keep their skin healthy, I created a quiz to teach them specifically about their skin type and the best products for their skincare routine.

3. Easy to Use
In addition to helping you understand your client and provide them with valuable information, the Interact platform is fully customizable and incredibly easy to use.
After I decided on my topic and wrote out my questions, I had my quiz up and running in under 30 minutes. Amazing! Let me show you how I did it.
Step One: Select Your Quiz Type
As you can see in the below screenshots, once you log in to Interact, you first select Create New Quiz.
After that, you have two options. You can either create your quiz completely from scratch, or you may use one of Interact’s many customizable templates. For my skincare quiz, I chose template.
Step Two: Choose Your Template and Quiz Type
As you can see below, Interact offers a huge range of industry options from which to choose. So whether you’re a DIY-er, a life coach, a photographer, or a food blogger, there are quizzes waiting just for you.
Once you choose your industry (I chose Beauty for my skincare quiz), it’s now time to select the type of quiz you’d like to build. Interact offers three different options:
- Assessment: How much do you know about XYZ?
- Personality: What type of XYZ are you?
- Score: What is your XYZ IQ?

Step Three: Choose Your Quiz Template
Next up: select your template! You can preview the quizzes on this page and see which one works well for you. Best of all, everything is completely customizable, so you can make the template fit your brand perfectly.
Step Four: The Fun Begins. Get Creative!
Once you select your template you can now begin the creation process. You can upload a new cover photo, create a clever quiz title and description, and even customize the color scheme to match your website.
Then it’s time to enter your questions and results! Following step-by-step, first, enter your quiz questions and then link them with your corresponding results.
One of the things I love about the results page is you can add a call to action, which gives your client specific direction after completing their quiz. As you can see in my quiz, I point them to my private Facebook Group.
Once you have your quiz completed, it’s now time to integrate it with your mail provider. And here’s good news; Interact makes it super easy to do this.
Simply click on “Enable lead capture and data collection for my quiz,” fill out the corresponding information from your email provider, and you’re good to go!
I use MailerLite for my provider, and it synced seamlessly.
Step Five: Generate Those Leads!
Last but not least, it’s time to share that quiz!
I have shared my quiz in several different places, and it’s been so much fun to track the results.
I feature it in this blog post, and I also have it pop up after 60 seconds on other beauty-related posts. This has been especially helpful with engaging potential clients on my site.
What’s more, I shared it on my Facebook page with great success, which further proves my point that we all love taking quizzes. 😉
And most important of all, I’m providing valuable information to my audience while also building my email list. It’s a win-win for everyone involved. 🙌
