A friend of mine had a birthday a few weeks ago, and when I asked what was on her birthday list, she responded bluntly with one word.
I can’t say I was surprised. As a mother of two kids, both under the age of 3, her chances of getting a good night’s sleep are slim to none. As I’m sure many of you parents can relate; sleep is a scarce commodity in that household.
Given my obsession with good sleep habits, her somewhat tongue-in-cheek comment resonated with me.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t put “sleep” in a box and wrap it up with a bow for her birthday. What I could do, however, was set her up for the best night of sleep possible.
Excited by the idea, I went to work creating the perfect sleep-themed gift basket for this busy working mamma of two. And I’m happy to report that she loved it.
So if you have a sleep-deprived friend in your life, (or you are that sleep-deprived friend), check out my ultimate sleep-themed gift basket, and give one of the best gifts of all; a restful night of rejuvenating sleep.

The Bedtime Routine: Journaling
As I mentioned in my post, Create Your Perfect Bedtime Routine, many people find journaling helpful to unwind before bed. It is a great way to slow down, destress, and prepare for a restful night of sleep.
Therefore, I included my favorite journal, the Leuchtturm1917 journal. Of course, any notebook will do. But if your friend is also a bullet journaler, she’ll be especially excited to see the Leuchtturm in the basket. 😉
Bonus: include my journal prompts for self-discovery in the gift basket as well!
There are many essential oils that promote a relaxed mind and healthy sleep. One of my favorites is the Sleepy Blend, which helps relax your mind and body before sleep. I also opted to include my favorite single scented oil, lavender. As researchers from Wesleyan University found, “lavender increased slow-wave sleep, the very deep slumber in which the heartbeat slows and muscles relax. During this phase, the brain is thought to organize memory, as well.”
(Also, if you’re in the market for an oil diffuser, I suggest this cool mist diffuser. It’s the one I have at home, and I love it.)
Okay, you can’t create an ultimate sleep-themed gift basket without fun jammies. My friend loves polka dots, and I happened across these fun polka dot pajamas, which I had to include. (She loved them!)
Also, my friend is a “hot sleeper.” And speaking from experience, waking up in the middle of the night in a hot sweat is far from rejuvenating. Yuck. Therefore, I decided to include some hot sleeper sheets as well to help her keep cool throughout the night.
And there you have it, friends; the ultimate sleep-themed gift basket, perfect for anyone who needs a good night’s sleep. (And let’s face it, who doesn’t?)
