In episode 165: Procrastiworking, Constraint, RSD, and Overwhelm – an ADHD coaching call

I am so thrilled that you’re tuning into today’s episode because I know it’s going to speak to so many of you. And here’s how I know that.

Last week I held a group coaching call, and on that call, four different people raised their hands for coaching. The topics they brought up were so very relatable – they’re topics that our brains grapple with all the time. And after the call, I started thinking about how helpful it could be for everyone in our busy awesome community to get a peak behind the scenes and hear what coaching is all about.

Because it’s one thing to listen to podcasts and hear about these tools, and it’s a whole other thing to really dig into the concepts and implement them and get coached on the roadblocks that pop up along the way. So that’s what we’re going to do today. We’re going behind the scenes and getting some coaching.

the topics on this call were so Relatable.

  1. We talked about how to work through familiar thoughts like, “I’m so behind,” and “I’m already behind,” which often result in us procrastiworking and making ourselves even farther behind.
  2. We coached on how to effectively constrain our focus and make decisions when we have competing brilliant ideas on our mind.
  3. We explored how to take care of ourselves when we’re navigating RSD and we’re nervous about sharing our projects with others.
  4. Finally, with the last client, we did a really powerful exercise together in real-time learning how to be with our overwhelm from thinking, “I should have done more.” and “I didn’t do enough.” And we explored how to move through to the other side.

So if you find yourself procrastiworking, or you’re trying to narrow down your brilliant ideas. If you’re navigating RSD or you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed at times.

In other words, if you’re a human in the 21st century...

This episode has some powerful gems in it.

And one of the coolest things about group coaching is that even though you’re not on the actual person getting coached, and you’re listening to the replay, you’re still going to get coaching from the experience.

Because we all have such similar brains, and we’re all navigating such similar obstacles – even if they’re not exactly the same.

For example, maybe someone is feeling frustrated about their colleague not pulling their weight on a project, and even if you don’t have that situation right now, I’m guessing you’ve dealt with it in terms of a partner or a child, or a sibling before, right?

It’s all so relatable.

To help your brain make these connections, I encourage you to ask yourself these questions:

  • When have I been in a similar situation before?
  • When has my brain offered thoughts like this?
  • When have I felt this way before? When have I had a similar emotion?
  • When have I acted that way before? When have I done something similar?
  • How can I apply this to my life?

I promise that as you listen to the coaching and keep a sense of curiosity with these questions in the back of your mind, you’ll learn so much about your own journey from each person.
