I’ve got to tell you, I am super excited about todayโs topic because it’s a deep dive into a few sneaky words that can hold us back from having more joy in our lives.
Let me give you a little backstory.
I coach a lot of women who are trying to get more done in the day and find more time in the process.
Many of them are balancing their 9-5 with their side hustle. Others are establishing boundaries between work life and home life. And others are working toward incredible goals during the short pockets of time when their kids nap.
As you might imagine, feelings of overwhelm occasionally creep into the story as these busy-awesome women chase their big dreams while trying to balance everything on their plates.
Over the past few weeks, I have noticed several of my clients using very similar language when they talk about their feelings of stress, anxiety, and overwhelm.
In fact, there are a few sneaky little words that popped up over and over again, which seemed to create so many negative emotions for my clients. And what’s more, the words prevented them from enjoying the process and uncovering joy along the way.
What are these sneaky words, you ask?

It’s so easy to let the work overwhelm you, especially when you love and care about your hustle! I’ve decided to set fewer goals next year, so I don’t feel that urge to be 100% every single day.
That sounds like such a healthy plan, Nadalie. Good for you!
Very motivating indeed. Finding joy in what we do daily is definitely the key to happiness. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely, Kimberly!

It’s a game-changer ๐
This sounds so good! I’m reading an awesome book right now, What To Say When You Talk To Yourself. It’s reminded me how powerful our words are…even, and especially the ones we say to ourselves.
Oooh, sounds like a fantastic book – I’ll have to check it out!
This is so great! Iโm gonna have to listen!

Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy when it comes to finding joy in work and in life. Great tips here!
Thanks, Sharon!
Oh wow, I’m going to have to listen to this full episode! This is so perfect for me. I’m currently working as a freelancer and blogger. So relevant
Fantastic! I hope you find it helpful ๐
I need to stop overcommitting myself. I have an issue matching up what I want to do with what needs to get done.
YES! This is such a difficult challenge, isn’t it?
We live our life looking for balance in everything we do. I try to do my best during the day and I try to complete all my “tasks” if we can call them this way. But honestly speaking, over the years, i’ve learnt that it’s ok not to be perfect. That’s what I call balance now x
I love that, Marina <3
Iโm so excited to hear more of your podcast! I found that my strategy is as simple as writing it down. Even if I have a brain dump and none of it makes sense, once it gets on my sticky note or white board or dayplanner, it translates to sense and then I tend to follow it more. Iโve recently discovered bullet Journalling too. So helpful!
That’s awesome, Deb! I am a huge fan of bullet journaling, too ๐
‘Tis the season for feeling overwhelmed. I will definitely tune in!
Enjoy, Amanda!
Looking forward to listening to the podcast this evening, this was exactly what I needed this week.
Thanks for tuning in, Sarah!
Finding a balance with life and trying run a business is hard. Sometimes things donโt go as planed or how you would like, these are the time negative self talk can sneak there way into your mind. I have learn to recognise this and stop it when these thoughts comes
